German soccer player Ilkay Gundogan left Man City to play for Galatasaray in Turkey. Both teams announced the news on Tuesday, but his transfer still needs to be officially approved.
Ilkay Gundogan, who is 34 years old, played for Manchester City in two separate periods, making a total of 358 appearances for the team. During his time there, he scored 65 goals and helped the club win 14 trophies. Most notably, in 2023, he captained the team to a remarkable treble, winning the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup all in the same season.
Gundogan transferred from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City in 2016. After playing for Man City for several years, he moved to Barcelona in 2023. However, he made a comeback to Manchester for the 2024-25 season, where he had a successful run, scoring five goals and assisting with eight others in 54 games across different competitions.
Gundogan Galatasaray Contract Details and Salary
Galatasaray made an announcement on Tuesday saying that they have come to an agreement with Manchester City to bring Ilkay Gundogan to their team. He will play with Galatasaray till the conclusion of the 2026–2027 season after signing a free contract with them.
According to Galatasaray, Gundogan’s take-home income for the upcoming 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 seasons will be 4.5 million euros, or roughly $5.27 million.
