Atlético Madrid easily defeated the bottom side 3-0 Valencia at home in La Liga, with goals from Conor Gallagher, Antoine Griezmann, and Julian Alvarez.

First-Half Action: Atlético Takes the Lead

Before Atlético seized the lead in the 39th minute, new signing Gallagher latched onto an amazing pass from Rodrigo De Paul, who slipped it through the legs of defender Cristhian Mosquera, while Marcos Llorente and Samuel Lino came close to scoring in the first half.

Alexander Sorloth, who joined Diego Simeone’s revamped side in the summer, generated a couple of threatening opportunities, but goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili stopped him.

Valencia Efforts and Griezmann Decisive Goal

Valencia fought hard for an equalizer. Javi Guerra’s long-range effort went wide, but they couldn’t stop Griezmann from scoring after Lino’s header set him up nine minutes into the second half.

Julian Alvarez First La Liga Goal Seals the Win

Alvarez, a new recruit, scored his first goal in the Spanish top flight after joining from Manchester City. He slotted home Rodrigo Riquelme’s cross in the 93rd minute, adding the icing on the cake.

“I didn’t feel any pressure to score; I simply believe that goals happen as a result of the game, and you have to be prepared for when the opportunity comes,” Alvarez said in an interview with Spanish TV.

“We’re performing well as a team, and we’re off to a great start. Now we have upcoming Champions League matches, and we need to continue working to maintain this momentum,” he added.

Atlético Position in La Liga and Upcoming Challenges

Atlético, who remain unbeaten this season, have moved into second place, tied on 11 points with Real Madrid and trailing leaders Barcelona by four points. They will be facing RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Thursday.
